Motor Insurance
Cover for your car, bike or commercial vehicle.
Third-party motor insurance is mandatory for vehicles used on public roads in India. A comprehensive policy can also cover damage to your own vehicle, subject to the policy terms. We help you understand cover options, add-ons and the renewal process.
Common motor insurance options
Third-party liability
Covers legal liability for injury, death or property damage caused to others, as required by law.
Comprehensive cover
Third-party liability plus cover for damage to your own vehicle from accidents, theft, fire and specified natural events.
Standalone own-damage
Own-damage cover purchased separately when you already hold valid third-party cover.
Add-ons
Optional extras such as zero depreciation, engine protection, roadside assistance or return-to-invoice, where available.
Things to consider
- Insured Declared Value (IDV) of your vehicle.
- No Claim Bonus (NCB) you may be eligible to carry forward.
- Which add-ons are actually useful for how you use the vehicle.
- Deductibles and exclusions such as driving without a valid licence.
- Renewing before expiry to avoid inspection requirements or loss of benefits.
Who it's for
